This afternoon, Mayo Clinic neurologist Ronald Petersen, M.D.,Ph.D., testified before the Senate Special Committee on Aging regarding the status of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act, which aims to effectively treat Alzheimer’sdisease by 2025. He touched on a variety of topics including the potential burden and cost on the health care system, current research that shows the benefits of early care and treatment, and the crucial need for funding. Other witnesses included Ashley Campbell, on behalf of Glen Campbell and family, Dr. Don Moulds, Dept. of Health and Human Services and Dr. Michael Hurd, RAND Center for the Study of Aging.
